Thought Id quickly give a little history on my boy Seeka. He was given to us as a racing horse a few years ago. He was one of those very important race horses you need, for without them, there would be nothing in the field to beat. He did place a second for us once, but sustained a leg injury shortly after. We turned him out and gave him to a girl that wanted a horse. Sadly it was only a companion horse for her old pony she rode so Seeka stood in the paddock for about two years. She then wanted to get rid of him and said he hadn't been ridden or anything so we took him back and put him with our other horses until we decided what to do. now it was at this time that due to work, we decided to my horseDJ as I wasn't working him due to study for work. Anyhow, I soonmissed having a horse just to play with and was getting a tad grumpy around the house. THe wife in her wisdom suggested I play with Seeka and see what I could do with him. The first time I went out to him, there wasjust a blank look onhis face and he stood there. Not impressed, I walked back and said he wasn't suited to me. I was quickly advised(or told) by the wife to giv ethe horse a chance and go back out and do something with him so I did. It seemed it was an effort for him to pick his feet up, let alone doing anything impressive. Then it happened. Seeka spied one of the dogs in the paddock, ears back he went charging and chased the dog out, then done a few victory laps, kicking up his heels then returned to the exact spot wher ehe commenced and just stood there with that blank look on his face again. I saw something in him during that moment so decided I would play with him. best thing I ever done.
He is now jumping (be it only small jumps), but will try almost anything I ask him to do. The most impressive thing was when we rode to our dam and for fun I thought Id see if I could get him in. DJ had hated water as with most of my horses and puddles, let alone a dam. As we appraoched, the dogs ran in and strated splashing and frolocking. I fronted Seeka up to the edge, waiting for the refusal, but to my surprise, he walked straight in, pawed the water a bit but never tried to roll, and walked out when asked to. Went back in again and the same thing. He has a long way to go but we are very close and when work or one of the family get on top of me, you always find me in the paddock with Seeka. I would put a pic here of Seeka taking his first jump or somehting simular to impress you, but I cant work out how to put pictures here. You will just have tyo use your imaginiation, think of an ordianry looking standardbred with a real big heart and thats him. Cheers
