Hi all

KING RAINBOW

Sire: What's Next USA
Dam: Hike Along
DOB: 01.09.1993
Prize Money: $188,622
No of Races: 313
Wins: 50
2nds: 41
3rds: 49
Current age: 15
Best Winning Mile: 1:58.7
Last raced: 15.05.2008
Reason for Retiring: Pulling up with leg problems after his races.

Won his last 2 races so he went out a winner also his trainer tells me he won horse of the year at Redcliffe last year before retiring at the end of May

Currently he is going well under saddle and gives 110%. He achieved a 15 km competitive trail ride in October 2008 and came in 12 mins over the expected finish time (only walking and trotting). Out of 30ish horses he was about 14th. I am looking to go in a few more trail rides with this one and hopefully even show him. He now canters and has started to round his back and neck.

NAVAJO PERFECT

Sire: Perfect Art USA
Dam: Navajo Miss
DOB: 25.11.2003
Prize Money: $2,770
No of Races: 19
Wins: 1
2nds: 1
3rds: 2
Current age: 5
Best winning mile: 2:03.4
Last Raced: 03.07.2008
Reason for retiring: Had a fall as a 2 yr old and never got his confidence back so he was too slow his mile rate in the race that he fell was 1:57.7

This horse is currently going under saddle quite well and we even get a canter on occasions. We have been to 3 shows and intend to do a lot more of this. So far he has got Ribbons: 3 Champion, 5 1st, 1 2nd, 1 3rd and 1 4th when I leave his mane down I occasionally get comments on my nice thoroughbred and i pull his mane back and so "no this one is a standardbred" has put shocked faces on a few people.

Yes the old King is definately a trooper and everyone that had anything to do with him seemed to have a soft spot for him. I regularly ring and let his trainer know what he is up to and what he has achieved. They all love to hear about him and what he is up to.

Hey Navman's Mum Everyone remembers old King he was a wonderful old claimer!!
Scott remembers the drive when Graham Mellors was training him 4th at Albion!
He also represented one of his former trainers Tony Grant when he got a possitive swab on King so incase you are wondering he has a naturally high bi-carb level! (Dont worry its nothing to stress about unless you are racing him lol! )

QSA thanks for the reply its great to hear that he was such a memorable boy. The high bi-carb levels would that possibly explain why he acts like a teenager even though he is middleaged?

PS How long ago was Scott associated with King?

Congrats Nav's Mum - they both look amazing

King certainly worked hard over his career - great to see a horse like this in such a great home, loved and still working!

They are very lovely boys and thanks to all on the comments, if only King could understand the appreciation
people have for what he did. But he is the sort of horse that enjoys having a job. He gets excited when he is
being saddled like he knows he is going to work and he walks the fence if the float leaves without him.
