Interest in next week's 2009 Tasmanian Standardbred Yearling Sale suggests it will produce better than expected results with vendors reporting the inquiry rate to be greater than last year. It looks as if there will be plenty of action on some of the early lots to be auctioned including Lot 10 which is a striking filly by Falcons Icon (x Falcon Seelster) from the Ticket To Heaven mare Paiges Dream.
The filly is tall and robust with a keen eye and a pleasant yet slightly feisty temperament.
Bred by Geoff Smith, this filly is well related to some of the best to grace the racetrack in Tasmania including Ricky Dean and Cam Strike.
She is paid up for all the features in Tasmania and Victoria and is expected to easily reach her reserve.
Lot 4 is a filly by Artesian from El Jays Belle (x Time Stands Still) offered by Lyndon and Gail Menegon of Big Park Standardbred Stud at Karoola at the northern end of the state.
Nearly all the boxes are ticked with this filly with the possible exception of her size, although she should by no means be categorized as small.
Artesian's progeny are much sought after, especially his fillies and while she is her dam's first foal her conformation and looks are bound to keep the auctioneer busy while she is parading.
These are just two of the 57 lots to be offered at the Inveresk sales complex in Launceston on Saturday week (January 17).
